Get Auto Body Mechanic Training Instead of a Job

When I was growing up, my dad told me that sometimes a job might be hard to find (I know, right?) and it is a good idea to learn a trade so I could hang out my own shingle. Then I could be my own boss and have folks come to me to get the work done. He followed his own plan, doing work that was so exceptional a company that used to bring their company trucks for work on them, hired him to check their mechanics to see if they were doing quality work or not. That was one sweet way to get a job offer. They wanted him BAD because he did such good work.

People notice when good work is done, nowhere more than when it is auto body work. I worked at a car lot and if there was a ripple down the side of a car or a place where it looked like it had been repainted, the potential buyer called it "wrecked." This was very frustrating to me as a car salesman when I could tell there was no significant damage to the car at all. Such imperfections in the work will severely drop the resale value of the car even though it was repaired.

That brings up another point: do you enjoy getting absorbed in the detail aspect of artistic work so that time seems to fly? When the details are good, the overall job is beautiful. Can you take pride in your work that way?

If you can really say you enjoy detailed work at this level, then I'll let you see my site and find out more about how you can get the training wink.
